Marriott’s Hotel Excellence!

Marriott’s Preferred Travel Agency Program

Marriott’s Preferred Travel Agency (PTA) program provides accredited travel agencies with a Preferred (10%) commission for all transient commissionable bookings made across Marriott’s portfolio of brands worldwide. This program was instituted in 1999 and has two criteria:

  1. An agency owner or manager must electronically agree to the Preferred Travel Agency commitment.
  2. Have at least one qualified travel advisor for each IATA/ARC/IATAN/TIDS/CLIA number. To be a qualified advisor, the advisor must complete the following:
    1. Hotel Excellence! Core and the latest Continuing Education training.
    2. Enter their Marriott Bonvoy® Member Number into their MI Partner Privileges profile and update/confirm all other profile information.
    3. Travel advisors associated with an IATA/IATAN or CLIA location in the US must have a valid IATA/IATAN VER# or CLIA EMBARC ID on their profile.

Agencies that do not fulfill the criteria outlined above will receive Marriott’s Standard commission of 8% until such time as the Preferred Travel Agency criteria are met. Preferred commission will be paid starting from the date the agency satisfies the requirements. Rebates are not allowed.

Design Hotels, Homes & Villas by Marriott International, All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and MGM Collection do not currently participate in the Preferred Travel Agency program.

Travel Agency owners/managers can view their agency’s status at any time by logging in to their Hotel Excellence! Dashboard . From the dashboard, agency owners/managers can view how many qualified graduates each agency's IATA/ARC/CLIA/TIDS number has, view/sign the Preferred Travel Agency commitment, and check whether their agency is Preferred or Standard with Marriott.

Marriott’s Ratio Policy

Marriott requires the number of Fam-Tastic, Plan-Tastic, and Travel Agent (“Industry Discount Rates”) room nights booked by an individual ARC/IATA/TIDS/CLIA location (“Location”) over the course of three (3) months to not exceed one-third of the total room nights booked in aggregate by the Location during that time period (“Ratio Policy”). A Location in violation of the Ratio Policy will be notified and, as of the effective date communicated, all Travel Advisors/Meeting Professionals employed by or affiliated with the Location will be prohibited from booking Industry Discount Rates until such time as Marriott restores the Location’s ability to book Industry Discount Rates. All decisions regarding Ratio Policy violations, including without limitation suspensions of access to Industry Discount Rates and a Location’s ability to resume accessing the Industry Discount Rates after coming into compliance with the Ratio Policy, will be made in Marriott’s sole discretion.
